A truly healthy life is the most important ingredient in our world and something that we all seek to understand. We live in a remarkable world of renowned achievements and a healthy life is no less achievable than any of the other feats accomplished.

Weight management is crucial as we get older and you will feel healthier if you eat a balanced diet. Choose the wholemeal variety in breads, pasta, and breakfast cereals. When purchasing dairy products, try to stick to the low fat versions. Also remember that fat, sugar, and salt should only be consumed in moderation. And don't forget the fresh fruit and vegetables!! Getting into a good eating regime will also reduce your risk of illness.

Another factor is fitness. I know many of you (including myself) cringe at the thought of doing all those dreaded pushups and so forth. Well, don't panic!!! Just going for a walk is enough to get started on achieving and maintaining a decent level of fitness. Being unfit has a negative effect on our energy levels and metabolism.

There are other activities for achieving peak fitness and performance as well. Taking up active sports assists in your fitness goals as well as being a pleasant social experience. There are also activities such as jogging, swimming, tai chi, yoga, and going to the gym.

While exercising is important, so too is just increasing your level of activity. This can be done by changing some of your habits so that you routinely become more active. Some ways of doing this include:

• Instead of driving to the local shop, walk or ride a bike • Park your car further away and walk that bit further to work • Go up the stairs instead of taking the lift or the escalator

As well as making a positive difference to your physical fitness and your weight aspirations, exercise has a number of other benefits including:

• Lowers your risk of diabetes • Lowers your risk of heart disease • Increased emotional wellbeing • Improved memory • Better sleep patterns • Increased bone density • More energy

There is a global interest in alternative treatments these days as people question some of the side effects of our Western medicines. People want to maintain a high quality of holistic health without risk and so they are flocking to purchase natural alternatives to encourage a healthy lifestyle and enhance their general wellbeing.

So, by keeping an eye on your weight and remaining fit, you should be able to maintain a good quality of life and enhanced general wellbeing for many years to come.
